commitment ceremonies
For a number of reasons, some couples are not able to or choose not to marry legally, but still want to publicly celebrate and affirm their dedication and love for one another. Although it is becoming increasingly popular for heterosexual couples who don’t want a legally binding ceremony to choose a commitment ceremony, in most cases the couples are lesbian, gay or transgender, and are therefore not permitted to marry under Australian law.
Whatever your individual reason, a commitment ceremony gives you the opportunity of celebrating your relationship with family and friends in a meaningful and memorable way. I encourage you to make suggestions, ask questions and enjoy the process of creating a commitment ceremony that is everything you want it to be.
